17th Annual Erie's Wild Rib Cook Off and Music Festival

For the past 17 years, “Erie’s Wild Rib Cook Off and Music Festival” has been the premier “kick-off” event of Erie’s Summer Festival Season. On May 30 - June 2, the landscape of Perry Square and its surroundings will once again transform into a colorful, exciting, and fun-filled community festival.  Eight Professional National Award Winning Rib Cooking Teams will converge in downtown Erie to offer the finest in BBQ cuisine. To compliment the Ribbers and
their fantastic food, a selection of delicious festival foods, arts and crafts, merchandise vendors, and informational booths will be present.  Both regional and local bands will liven up the crowd.

The KidZONE, an area hosting fun activities for children of all ages will showcase the new 27ft. high Shark Slide,
a gigantic obstacle course, new games and several combos and bounces. This fun area will also include a big
red trackless train. Mom, dad and the kids can take a Rib Fest trip with Mr. Brad, the train conductor. For the very
best value, scheduled times slots will be offered for a Rid-a-Ribba-Ramma. The re-designed KidZONE will be
sure to provide endless entertainment. Mom and dad can relax to the music while the little ones are having a blast.

Each year a panel of invited guests participates as judges for the “Best Ribs” and “Best Sauce” Awards. The votes
are counted and the presentation takes place on Saturday, June 2, at 7:30 on the Gazebo.  Be sure to stop by the
Moore Research Tent “The Official Registration Booth” where you can cast your vote for the “People’s Choice
Awards.”  Take a chance on some great prizes at the “Piggeriffic Drawing” hosted by a local non profit group. Don’t
miss the expanded arts and crafts area, drawings, giveaways and so much more.

The Rib Cook Off is pleased to be host to the First Annual “Erie Summer Long Jazz Fest.”  Saturday is dedicated to a
day of JAZZ as the “Kick-Off” for this newest addition to the Erie Summer excitement. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket,
eat some ribs, sip a fresh-squeezed lemonade and sit back and enjoy.

On August 18th, 2007, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will make a rare appearance at the Lake Erie Speedway.  On Wednesday,
May 30th, be sure to stop by the Lake Erie Speedway race car on display at the Rib Fest and take a chance to win (2)
tickets to the August 18th Lake Erie Speedway event.
